My name is Mirza Sivcevic. I was born in 1967 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but I live in Brisbane, Australia since 1997. People here call me Mike, hence the photo blog title.
I first became interested in photography in the early 80s, while I was still in the high school. I was member of the City Photo Club, the government sponsored youth program which had its own premises, labs, equipment... Even though we used pretty old and outdated technology it was great experience going through the entire process; from taking the snaps, developing the film and photos in the lab, and losing the track of time in the dark-room... as it happens.
But then I moved to another city, university, different hobbies and interests and the passion for photography slowly faded away.
Fast forward 20 years ... living in Australia, married, two beautiful kids, digital technology... and surely here I am again.
No, it didn’t come overnight, it took some time. I bought my first digital camera quite a while ago, must have been late nineties, the Kodak DC240. It was really expensive back then, but hey - it was ‘digital’, endless possibilities. I loved every bit of that camera and every pixel it made.
Then came the Canon A40, then another Canon, A5...something, the Fuji
6500 fd, and so on. Every time I get a new, better camera, I get to
discover new horizons, see the world through different
eyes lens.
In 2008 I bought my first dSLR camera, Canon 450D (Rebel XTi) and later Canon 50D, and slowly but surely discovering the things I barely knew were possible before.
One other thing I have discovered, which is disappointing, is that the lenses are very expensive. I currently use the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8mm USM Macro and Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD
My other passion, which goes hand in hand with the digital photography, are the computers, namely the Apple Mac. I have switched to Mac in 2004 and never really looked back, see my other blog - Silver Mac
I have a 27” Intel iMac and a 15” MacBook Pro, I use iPhoto to manage my photo library, but use Adobe LightRoom for any editing.
